Brushing Your Hair

Let's focus for a sceond on brushing :)

Having a good hair day can make all the difference in how we feel about ourselves. But, in order to maintain healthy and luscious locks, we need to invest some time and effort into our hair care routine. So, let's talk about one of the simplest yet most important steps in hair care - brushing your hair.

First things first, why is it important to brush your hair? Maintaining a regular brushing routine helps to distribute the natural oils produced by your scalp evenly throughout your hair. This not only helps to keep your hair healthy and shiny, but it also prevents your scalp from becoming greasy or dry. Regular brushing also ensures that your hair stays tangle-free, which reduces the likelihood of breakage. These two points alone are worthy of some dedicated time with your brush, but lets dive in deeper with the details.

What kind of brush should I use?

When it comes to brushing your hair, it's important to choose the right tool for the job. A brush with soft bristles is ideal, as it detangles your hair without damaging it. I love using a wet brush on my guests. Wet brushes can be used on wet or dry hair, but what makes them special is their flexible bristles. They are strong enough to help smooth and untangle, but flexible enough not to rip through the hair. Hair is especially fragile when its wet!

As for the best type of brush to use, there are many options out there, including paddle brushes, round brushes, and vent brushes. Some people prefer natural bristle brushes, while others like synthetic bristles. Each have their benefits! Ultimately, the best brush for you will depend on your hair type and personal preferences. It's a good idea to experiment with different brushes and techniques to find what works best for you.

Now, let's talk about technique. When brushing your hair, start at the bottom and work your way up. This ensures that you're gradually untangling any knots without causing too much strain on your hair. If your hair is prone to getting tangled, use a comb to gently untangle any knots before using a brush. And remember, always brush your hair gently - pulling and tugging at your hair can cause unnecessary damage and breakage! It's good practice to brush your hair in sections, starting at the back of your head and working your way towards your face. Don’t hesitate to reach for your favorite detangler or leave in conditioner to help further reduce friction/ resistance while brushing!

Lets talk benefits. Brushing your hair properly is truly an essential step in any hair care routine. Not only does it help to distribute natural oils, promote healthy hair growth, and exfoliate your scalp, but it also reduces breakage. Regular brushing also stimulates blood flow to your scalp. This, in turn, promotes healthy hair growth and can even help to prevent hair loss.

Perhaps begin your routine by brushing twice a day. Morning and night. Don’t pull too hard or fight with tangles. Take it easy, take it slow. So, grab your favorite brush and get to work - your hair will thank you for it! And remember, if all else fails, just embrace the messy bun - it's a great way to hide any tangles :)

Love you guys! - Ariana
